Up to 30 years ago was JUDO martial arts. Then with the introduction of the more mysterious martial arts with more of a "kill" edge to them this in combination with the focus of the USJF/USJI (the leading Judo organizations in the u.s. and the world) focus on Olympic competition and the simple fact that training in judo is painful and to this day, very difficult to get a black belt rank, especially if you are in a competitive environment. I could probably another 5 pages writing about this, but I keep on point.
During these years had every major metropolitan Police Department a Judo club. Even countries like Thailand taught Judo there police force, not Muay Thai.I train personally a number of law enforcement officials and I have seen the results first hand. so why is Judo martial arts for law enforcement?
The primary purpose of non-lethal force with law enforcement to your target audience. What is the most realistic way to get someone to do something you don't want with out severely damage them? How can you get someone of their feet on the ground as quickly as possible? how do you know what it's going to be like for real? The answer is JUDO.
Firstly, when most people "resistance" arrest, it is a thing of the ego. they are looking for are, or they don't want to look like a punk and go quietly. The advantage that the agent has is that the accused know that the officer is not trying to kill him or her. I realize that this is a disadvantage in some situations.
Firstly, is the object of judo throw the opponent of his feet to his back. Think about the majority of police officers in altercations, most of the time get the skel just kind of testing is the official. Once the accused feels that the officer will be a tough customer, he will. Nothing will drive this point home better than taking someone from their feet to their ass with a shot. Usually, when the man on the ground, he will take his medicine, because he knows that the agent really isn't going to kill, a lot of time, that's all that it takes.Plus, witnesses, it just looks if you pushed or pulled him over; mean while, they hit the deck HARD. just ask my friend those guys a night with sasae tsuri komi ashi threw (lifting, pulling, single throw). These guys fought each other, and the guys at the scene had to get them to stop. So, he got into the fight and threw 'em all. well, I guess they felt that stand up and fight was again not that much of a priority.
A popular argument is that most of the fighting on the ground. This may be true, but most people don't know what they are doing. most people not the study of judo.
One of the primary components of Judo is able to stay on your feet. You develop this skill as a by-product of the training. Only getting the possibility to stay on your feet is worth the price of admission. Especially when you are in a 'scrum ' maintaining your balance is a primary concern.
After all, there's no better way to practice imposing your will on someone who is not compatible. Nothing gives you more confidence than throwing a man who has 100 pounds on your. nothing. Especially when that guy don't want to be thrown.
Another important part is the fastest and the submission of judo.A full point in judo, you need to keep him on his back for 25 seconds. Being able to a man until the cavalry comes, it will save your life. Plus, while this guy struggling, you're just squeezing for life of him. Trust me, when it's time for you to put the cuffs on him, he will be as compatible as a wet noodle.
Strangles and arm-bars, yep, Judo has them too.If you need to put someone "the Commission", but you really want to know how to strangle someone who doesn't want to be strangled, you've come to the right address. When she woke up, you will head and ready to go. (Uh-oh, the choke hold alarm! Hey, I'm not talking about liability; I'm just trying to save your life).
Finally, the General Harding and body conditioning is second to none.If you have "randori" for 30 minutes non-stop-you are in really good shape. So why not some many people, knocking down the doors of each Judo club.Because it is hard work and it hurts. There is no junior black belt, student of the month. your gi is white and the work is hard.No secrets, just hard work.
The irony and tragedy: the guys who train with me are just a few. Most of the guys interested in this kind of training are SWAT or tactical guys.Unfortunately, these guys are the least likely to get into a bun. That's the irony. the tragedy is that the guys who are most likely to need good hand-to-hand combat skills are the pat role one do car stops, domestic violence; and all of the initial response details. by the time shows the SWAT, the situation is intense and the reality of a hand-to-hand confrontation is highly unlikely if damn near impossible.
